Running gave me confidence

I never expected running to change me in the way it has.
I never expected running to change me in the way it has. I have been an amputee since 2001 and have always hidden my leg. If you didn't know me then you would never have noticed that I was an amputee that is how well I hid my leg. I wanted to look normal and be like everyone else.
My running journey started in 2016. I started running because my husband was a runner and I thought this would be a great thing we could do together. Running has really changed my life but not in the way you would expect. It actually gave me confidence. I can't hide my leg when I am running and I had so many people come up to me interested in my leg that I had to learn to talk about it. I decided to document my journey on Instagram and the feedback has been amazing. I now have confidence to show my leg and even wear shorts or dresses during the day when I am not running. I never thought I could inspire others and now that is my mission. My mission is to get others fit and healthy and to show that it is ok to look different!
